Aims
and Objectives
Fire and Materials is a major international forum
on fire performance of materials and products. The
conference focuses on manufacturers and their customers,
designers and regulators, who need up-to-date information
on fire issues, including new materials, applications,
assessment techniques and requirements. The conference
addresses specific issues and general updates in
the fire safety field.
The 2009 conference will once again run over 3 days
due to the popularity of the last event and will
incorporate parallel sessions on Fire Investigation
and papers on Flame Retardants, FR Applications
and Modelling are welcomed with the view to establish
further parallel sessions.

Presentations
The Programme Committee has targeted specific areas
for presentation and invites papers on the following:

• Furniture and Furnishings
• Wildland fires and the Built Environment
Interface
• Fire Dynamics
• Transportation
• Fire Investigation
• Flame Retardants and new FR Applications

Papers
that discuss new applications of materials for enhanced
fire safety are also welcome.
Commercial
Presentations
The commercial session enables producers to give
brief (10 minutes) presentations describing their
companies’ new products and/or capabilities
in tune with the general conference theme. Space
available is limited and interested companies should
contact the organisers as soon as possible.
Submission
Dates
To present a paper send a 250 word abstract for
review to the organisers before July
31st, 2008.
Authors will be advised of acceptance by September
1, 2008.
A final version of the full paper and a two page
extended abstract is required by December
12, 2008. The full paper will be
published in the conference CD and extended abstracts
will be published in the delegate handbook. .

speaker per technical paper will be entitled to
register for the conference at a subsidised rate.
